Service points updated: new CP1, water points W1 and W2.
After the final course test, the race operations team has updated the service points along the 41.8 km course. The route itself has not changed, and the course GPX is still valid.
What changed
- CP1 moves to km 11 (about 2,980 m), in the village, where it is easier to reach and to supply.
- The former CP1 at km 14.1 becomes water point W1 (about 3,530 m).
- New water point W2 at km 24.6 (about 3,190 m), 2.2 km after CP2, with its own cut-off at 11:00.
- Water points have water, first aid, timing and radio. Full checkpoints are CP1, CP2 and CP3.
Order and cut-offs
Start (04:00) → CP1 (km 11) → W1 (km 14.1) → CP2 (km 22.4, cut-off 10:00) → W2 (km 24.6, cut-off 11:00) → CP3 (km 28.8, cut-off 13:00) → Finish (km 41.8, closes 19:00).
If you stop
Withdraw or miss a cut-off at W1, CP2 or W2 and a 4x4 takes you to the DNF Hub (from W2 you first walk back to CP2). CP3 has no road: from there you walk about 6 km downhill on a marked evacuation route to the Evac Point. Every DNF runner is then taken to the Finish line in Thimphu, not to the hotel.
CP3 gear check after 12:30
Every runner who reaches CP3 after 12:30 is checked for a headlamp and a survival blanket. Missing either means disqualification on the spot, and you leave the course by the evacuation route. Keep both where you can show them quickly.
